Dr. Steven Case
Hello, my name is Dr. Steven Case. I graduated from Iowa State University in 2005 with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, so I’ve been a veterinarian just shy of 20 years.
One of the things I pride myself on is client communication. I’m always striving to make sure that owners understand what is going on with their pet(s). This consists of providing information by both talking in the room, giving handouts, showing owners pictures and diagrams, and numerous follow-up visits to ensure that both short and long-term diseases are responding well to treatment. This includes giving good advice and handouts for a newly adopted dog or cat to give it the best chance for a long, healthy life and making sure that owners that have patients with chronic diseases understand their conditions and have follow- ups periodically to make sure that the patient is doing well.
Outside of work, I like to play video games, watch movies and TV, read both regular and graphic novels, and go for walks with my dog when the weather permits. I have 3 cats, one dog, a few parrotlets, and some fish that our family has as pets.
I’m a native Dubuquer, so a fun fact is that I’ve had some minor brushes with the entertainment industry related to the area. Apparently, when I was just a baby, actress Barbara Hershey got lost while filming the movie “Take This Job and Shove It”, stopped at our house to get directions and held me for a bit. I don’t recall this being a wee toddler though.
I also was an extra in the movie “Field of Dreams”. I am the blond kid in the very yellow shirt sitting on a car watching Kevin Costner mow down his field. They filmed a scene with me directly too but it was never in the film. Bummer.
Lastly, when I was a Junior in high school, my sister and I were what I would call gophers for actress Kate Mulgrew, who starred in “Star Trek: Voyager” and “Orange Is The New Black”. She was having a family reunion, and we were tasked with picking up groceries, cleaning the house, driving people around, etc. I remember her being very nice and she paid us quite well to boot.
